So doese anyone want to explain how Wily Mo Pena played so much CF? Does he decide to play defense when he's there, but go into Operation Shutdown when put in RF?

He flat out sucks. The Reds brought him up way too soon, he should be somewhere in the minors right now trying to learn how to hit an offspeed pitch. Think about the way he plays RF at Fenway, they thought he would be the guy to replace Trot Nixon and traded away a good back-of-the-rotation guy to get him.

There may not be a better pitcher in the NL right now than Jake Peavey. Four straight starts, 10 k's in each, less than 1 ERA.

And tonight, his stuff was filthy.

Dunno how long he will last with that across the body delivery, but he is almost Mike Scott 1986 right now

Not his fault the Reds brought him up too soon. The Yankees signed him to a major league deal at 16 and I think he only had one option left when the Reds got him. Reds had to keep him because they knew he would get claimed on waivers.

And him in RF is Theo's fault. You can't sign JD Drew, more fragile than Josh Beckett's shoulder, and expect to platoon him in RF with Wily Mo.

Yeah. Except Peavy didn't resurrect his career in his 30s with a split-finger that may or may not have been legal.

Other than that, though, you're right on.

Screw the platoon, they thought Papa Jack could get to him and make him into a legit hitter and he could be Nixon's replacement.

    Yes.

Halladay and Glaus are his get out of jail free cards.

People will say "well they can't possibly win with that many injuries" and he and gibbons will stay.

Alson, don't forget, Gibbons and JP go back a long way as teammates in the minors.

Oh no, I think gibbons is toast. Ex-teammates or not, JP will throw him under the bus in a heartbeat. The Beane disciples have no regard at all for managers.

Plus, Gibbons' deal only runs thru next year, I think. So it won't be that tough to buy him out. JP can get another desperate guy to manage and then they can both get fired when the Jays lose 100 again next year.

  11. Anyone else find it strange that the Cardinals are wearing funky retro uniforms so soon after one of their players died in a car accident?

    Dear Bud Selig,

Go fuck yourself. Fuck yourself long. Fuck yourself hard. I paid MLB 90 fucking dollars so I can watch the fucking Brewers -- who only got good once you fucking sold them -- on my computer. 90 fucking dollars. Yet, you blackout any fucking game played before 1 p.m. on a Saturday. Never mind that I would need to drive to Mil-fucking-waukee or New-fucking-York if I wanted to watch this game because I can't see it in In-fucking-diana. All I wanted to do today was watch Ben Sheets face John MaineMike Pelfrey. And I paid 90 fucking dollars so I could. So you can go fuck yourself and the horse you rode in on.

    Sincerely,
    Pope fucking DirkBenedict
