Game over. Walk-off grand slam by Zimmerman with two out.

They miss (a healthy) Shannon Stewart. They need better production out of the 1 & 2 spots. Luis Castillo and Nick Punto just aren't going to cut it.

That was one hell of a birthday present for the Birkenstock-clad bastard. :D

Being that the network the Nationals are on is out here tonight, I'm guessing it was Jorge Julio that did it right? I saw someone in one of my leagues picked him up recently and I couldn't figure out why, and then I saw the note that he's closing for Florida now.

A little known fact is that when St. Paul was blinded by God while walking in the desert because of his persecution of Christians, you know, back when he was known as Saul, the one thing he could see was that letting Julio close out games was a recipe of disaster. And he didn't even know what baseball was back then!

How can you miss something you almost never had?

I've always felt indifferent toward Derek Jeter, but after listen to the Yankabes go nuts over Captain Unmoveable at Safeco Field tonight, he's now wearing the brown crown as far as I'm concerned.
ARod did his usual dithering at the plate when playing against the M's--he gets no love in Seattle, none--but he was slick in the field.
    Miguel Batista continues to confuse.

Did anyone watch the White Sox-Royals on WGN? The WGN crew called the Royals' shortstop Tony Perez Jr. more than once when he came in. The chyron even said Tony Perez Jr.

    Sorry. It's Tony Pena, Jr.

Welcome to the club. We've got some wonderful welcoming gifts.

The only confusing thing is why Bill Bavasi thought it was a good idea to acquire THREE pitchers who were barely adequate in the NL: Batista, Ramirez and Weaver. Getting one of those guys would be a bad move. Getting three?? How the fuck are the M's .500?

Question Mets fanboy loosers young and old (spnited):

Can this Gomez kid play? What can he do?

Not sure if Gomez is ready, hammer, but yes he can play. Might be developing into a better prospect than Milledge.

Of course, it's already 3-0 Mets off Capuano in the first, so I'm concerned only with what Perez does the rest of the way, not whether Gomez hits or not.
