Seriously. And how does dealing Farnsworth qualify as "going for the quick fix?"

    Edit: What Angola said.

Pudge and Posada could share the season, each play 3 games a week, maybe DH during a busy stretch.

Either way, Kyle Farnsworth is the new Brad Ausmus.

He was traded to the Yankees for Zach Miner and Roman Colon a few years ago. Colon was shipped away after punching a Toledo teammate in the face last year and breaking the guys cheekbone and orbital bone, and Zach Miner is good, for now, but started like 0-8 last year.

Well, my comment of "going for the quick fix," was, of course, without really thinking considering Posada is done for the season. This, though, does make the race for the AL East a very interesting one going down the stretch.

I don't see Pudge's 5 HR and 32 RBI getting him a batting order spot anywhere higher than a seven or eight spot, although that .294 average is still very good.

Hell, just getting Farnsworth off your team is an addition by subtraction.

This shores up the Tigers' relief pitching... well on paper, at least. But it also tells me that Hank wants to go for it. Right about now Cashman's either thinking "way to go, boss" or "well, this COULD save my job"...

The other choice is Molina, who cannot hit, so it is still a positive. He doesn't have to be great, just decent.

Farnsworth didn't work out the first time in Detroit. Rodney has been erratic. Todd Jones is awful. Todd Jones will probably not be back now, unless they move him to be like a 7th inning pitcher.

Looks like Zumaya in the 7th, Rodney 8th, Farnsworth 9th.

    Farnsworth is going to close?

    Holy cow.

    Unless Leyland prefers Rodney.

No way they put Farnsworth as closer right now. Leyland already named Rodney the closer and he's done pretty decent the last 4-5 outings. In his last nine innings, he's given up just two runs and lowered his ERA from 7-plus to 5.20 or something like that.

Zumaya has been good, considering his entire shoulder was basically rebuilt. He still has his velocity, but is a little wild. But he also didnt pitch for a year either.

He'll be the closer next year for sure.

And to whoever said Pudge won't bat higher than seventh or eighth in the Yankee lineup. That's where he's been most of the season. He's even batted ninth a few times.

Possible added bonus - Carl Pavano - ready in mid August has his best season throwing to Pudge.
