If I'm the Marlins I make that Manny deal in a second. Your team has a legit shot at doing something because the favorites in the division aren't playing up to par.

On top of that, you'll get some prospects from Boston, and you've already got Cameron Maybin who isn't that far away. I haven't followed Hermida much lately, but a few years ago he was supposed to be a budding star, and it doesn't seem like it's come close to happening. Down the line it could hurt them I guess, but if you have Maybin and Manny can inject you with some lightning, I think it makes the risk a little more manageable.

BTW, Sporting News has a great article about the Sabathia trade this week.

    Prospects from Boston?

    Maybin... this year?

I'm thinking Maybin for next year, though I'm not counting on him to be anywhere near as good as he'll end up being. It's definitely a one-shot deal if they deal for Manny, but why not?

And doesn't Boston send the Fish some prospects in the three-way with the Buccos?

    I don't think so....

Marlins make nice small trade, getting Arthur Lee Rhodes from the M's.

Incredible, with the awful start he had to his time in the majors, the sort of career he has carved for himself. I know... he's a lefty.... who should be surprised?

Rhodes has an arm made out of glass.

And where am I wrong on the above mentioned post? In facts, or your opinion?

Did you see those four words?

Giving up Hermida for two months of 36-year-old, declining Manny.... I don't like that math at all.

Get a stud catcher, and I would be happy.

I saw the four words. Try to stay civilized, big shot. I wasn't being a dick at all.

Also, looking at his stats the past few years, and the fact he's only 24, I can see what you're saying. Him and Maybin for several years sounds pretty good. I wouldn't fault them for the deal, but long term you're right, it's probably not the wisest thing.

I hadn't noticed how much Manny is declining until last night. Sort of the elephant in the room.

Here's hoping the Manny deal never goes through -- as expected -- so that the Rays land Bay.

Although calling him Tampa Bay Ray Bay would get confusing. He'd fit in nicely at RF. Stick Hinske at DH and get rid of Gomes (sorry).

Also, time to sit Cliff Floyd. Nice guy, but he's been a bust this year.

Another year, another end of July watching the Twins sit on their fucking hands.

Carl Pohlad can tongue my ass.

I have seen a lot of reports on the potential two-team or three-team trades involving Ramirez going to the Marlins. None of them has the Marlins getting a prospect from Florida as well. Not to say it couldn't happen, but not in the reports I've seen so far.
