    That is sad, Zeke....and revolting.

I got confused for a moment. But I also did hear about Boston tossing in a prospect. Granted it probably wouldn't be a good one.

I'm not sure they are getting Bay even if he doesn't go to Boston, though the Pirates caved with Yankees so maybe they will do the same for Tampa Bay.

In the versions I had read, the prospect was going to Pittsburgh, not Florida.

Arthur is a nice addition and will balance out their too-young clubhouse a little bit. For a guy with a "glass arm," Arthur's done pretty well for himself with 689 appearances over 17 years in the majors. He's also sixth among active players in Ks/9 innings.

Maybin looks like a top prospect. He has a major league body, and a major league arm. He can run like the wind and is a charismatic personality.
But the kid strikeouts more often than Mikey in a singles bar. If Southern League pitchers have figured out Maybin will swing at anything remotely close to the plate, don't you think MLB pitchers will?

Pretty good column by Passan on the Ramirez stuff:

I like how he basically just followed Manny around and watched him. Great color and great scene.

With as much depth that the Rangers have behind the plate, I'd think they could parlay one of them into a solid deal. It's a win-win either way: if they play right either today or in the offseason, they can score big. Boston definitely would be at the top of list after the season, especially with Varitek free falling.

Someone willing to explain what Ed Wade's thinking in H-Town?

Griffey OKs trade to White Sox:

EDIT: In retrospect, this appears to be the same link someone posted on the previous page, but I'm thinking Rosenthal/his editors just edited the original information into the same file once Griffey approved the deal.

But...but...Varitek is an All-Star! Just ask the players!

I saw a report on Rotoworld (so you can imagine how worthless it may be) that the Royals inquired about Saltalamacchia as part of a package for Greinke. That would be a hell of a return given how little Salty has shown thus far. Though I wonder about Greinke adjusting to that ballpark and a new team.

People are carrying on like Jason Bay is a superstar.
He's an average hitter, strikes out too damn much and is a god-awful outfielder...a perfect Pirate.

And I repeat, Manny is not going to be traded...not today, not next week, not in the off-season, not fucking ever.
Trading Manny makes the Red Sox the third-best team in the AL East.

And the Marlins getting Arthur Rhodes is a classic case of subtraction by addition. He is horrendous.

I'm putting a curse on you for making these statements. I really, really want the Red Sox to trade Manny.

Oh, and I'm very disappointed Rhodes got traded. I was hoping the Yankees would get to face him a few more times this season.
