    MAYBE he isn't average?

You just can't do it, can you?

The party lines on this board sure run deep.

As Simon pointed out, last year was the aberration for Bay. He played hurt all year. Just admit it was flyover territory so it was beneath your notice. :)

edit: spnited, are you seriously trying to say Ramirez is a better defender than Bay. I'm sorry, but you really don't know what you are talking about here. It seems like you are basing everything on last season, forgetting everything the guy did before and what he has done since.

Bay definitely isn't Manny Ramirez, but he is better than you are suggesting.

I'm saying Jason Bay is a BAD outfielder and not nearly the hitter Manny is.

You are so ill-informed.... if you weren't 80, I would think you were Le Batard.

No, Simon, I can't say it.

Maybe he's not average, but he's not Manny.

What's wrong with that statement? And I'm not saying that because spnited is my idol and I refuse to disagree with him. Go read the Mussina HOF thread and you'll see I have no problems disagreeing with the old man.

You're going to tell me Bay is a good outfielder? You're going to tell me he's as good a hitter as Manny?

Manny five years after he dies is still a better hitter and Jason Bay will ever dream of being.

    Nice try, Lovitz.

I never tried telling you that Bay is "as good a hitter as Manny"

You were the one who diarrheaed that Bay was average.

Just admit you are wrong and move the fuck on.

And, Angola!.... never pegged you as a sycophant.

MAYBE he isn't average.... as in.... MAYBE he IS average?

    Chrissakes, you two.

Fine, he is a bit above average.

My argument is with Red Sox fans, not necessarily ones on this board, who keep acting like it is going to be so great if they trade Manny to get Bay.

When in reality, the Sox could very well miss the playoffs if this trade goes down.

Because you think he's great and I think he's average, that makes me wrong?

    Fuck you asshole.

If the Red Sox were to trade Manny Ramirez (which they WILL NOT) and get Jason fucking Bay in return, they would not make the playoffs.

When the Red Sox are playing the Yankees the last weekend of the regular season and need a big hit, do you want Manny Ramierz or Jason Bay hitting?

    NO FUCKING CONTEST.

What flavored pacifier is your favorite?

I never said he was "great"

    You definitely said he's average.

    Facts.

Not up for debate among the sane.
