this is how big the state high school hockey tourney is here. went to an establishment that serves beer (Ok, bunny's in slp). the wild were on and so was the hs tourney. There were probably 3 or 4 tvs on the high school tourney for every one on the wild.

So if it ends up being Edina v. H-M, just who do you root for? To me it's a pretty difficult choice. In some ways, I almost think H-M is easier to stomach, even though they are a private school. That school seems to have fallen a little bit out of favor in the last decade with the rise of Cretin-Derham Hall.

Plus, the Pioneers-Pioneers are playing their asses off tonight.

    <EXPLETIVE DELETED!>

Hill just scored with two minutes remaining.

    That's a no-brainer.

    You root for Hill.

Ok, it's a no-brainer for the St. Paul native. Edina is a Minneapolis suburb, Maplewood is a St. Paul suburb.

    But right now, <EXPLETIVE DELETED!>

And Lou Nanne hates northern teams. It's just wrong.

    And the empty-netter.

Roseau should have saved some of those goals from last night. :(

Sure, now Roseau scores. With 44 seconds left.

Hill-Murray was awfully good. Especially the goaltender Phillippi.

Holy crap, we got a fight.

Broken up fairly quickly. But that's not a common site in HS hockey here.

When slap made the SLP reference earlier I was going to tell him to meet me at Bunny's. I hope you had a beer for Mike Tice, Jeff.

People, we need to realize what is at stake here. Public or Private. Put aside all the past with the cake eaters. This is too important. Privates must not be allowed to spread their smarm across the hockey landscape. STA will win. Do we really want Hill to make it a sweep?

    Do what's right for hockey.

Rosie, you know where I played. This isn't easy...

Make the deal with the Devil. Root for Edina!

You can't go wrong with Bunny's once in a while.

I guess I don't really care who wins either game to be honest.

I think STA will win the 1A. I'm fine with that as I occassionally play some golf with one of the coaches there.

In the 2A, a friend of mine is a teacher at Edina and a guy who I played some hoops with growing up is the boys basketball coach there. But I can live with H-M. They're private school kids, but it's not an obnoxiously rich kid private school. If you look at average family income, the Edina kids might be better off.

I may have to take another look at my plan to become a motivational speaker...
