Why not let the person interviewing decide whether and when and where to announce it?

And Mizzou, no dog whatsoever. I promise on Moddy's bald head.

    OK, I believe you...

I just still don't know why people would freak out so much about it being mentioned that this guy was coming in to interview. I'm not saying my intentions on this board are always good, but in this case, there was ZERO malice intended. I hope he gets the job. I think he would be a great hire.

If it's who I think it is, I agree.

Jobs are turned down even at the offer stage (money, change of heart, personal issue emerges), so I don't see any upside to letting the boss know about the search at any interval.

I don't believe you intended any malice for a minute. But your incessant desire to "show what I know" can have unintended consequences. And it doesn't even have to be personal or isolated to a single individual.

Such as the several times you have posted something to the effect of, "I'm hearing that (xxxxxx chain) will have massive layoffs just before Christmas." You posted that about my former chain a few years ago. Never happened. Oh, they have had layoffs (and will again when the final outsourcing to Chicago is complete). But why add to people's stress like this? I just don't see what is gained.

To not be mentioned, by name, on this site would be a nirvana I wish I could claim. Sigh.

Andrew Gribble, recently the Tennessee beat writer for the Knoxville News-Sentinel and with the Opelika-Auburn News before that, got the job.

Congrats to Gribble.... I just got caught up on this thread, and forget whether it's right or wrong to out people like that (I think it's totally wrong), but it's actually pretty sad. If Mizzougrad gets his life's enjoyment from being the first to tell a bunch of anonymous sports writers who is interviewing for a certain job, that's a pretty sad thrill.
