Now that I can't see. Gloria is going to sit by and watch someone else raise her kid? No chance.

Well, if that happens, the show definitely has jumped the shark. It's one thing to be a surrogate, it's quite another to just let relatives raise your biological child.

I think it's the "unexpected" baby that causes the shark jump. It's been known for over a season that Cam and Mitchell want a second child. Those two adopting another kid doesn't have to change the show.

Jay and Gloria having a newborn absolutely changes the whole dynamic of the show.

It struck me as completely out of character for a successful, 60-something patriarch to get his wife pregnant. When I hear of people who are expecting children later in life, it strikes me as irresponsible and not fair to the child. That's not very Jaylike, IMO.

Agree. Especially after the Disney episode where he talked about how long he stayed with his first wife for the sake of his kids. Jay is someone who thinks things out.

Does that mean he can't accidentally get his wife pregnant? Of course not...

By doing this, one would assume that Jay and Gloria will become the focus of the show. One of the reasons the show is so good is because it goes back and forth so seamlessly between the three families. With a pregnant Gloria, I can't imagine that will be the case next season.

I thought it set up the rest of the next season quite nicely.

(Overthinking it, per usual. Sorry, Dick, it is a valid criticism. You want depth, go to A&E.)

I thought the telenovela send-up was quite enjoyable. That was my favorite part.

I wondered about the surrogate angle, but also thought that it seemed improbable, especially given the way her lines were written. She is excited to be a mother again; that didn't seem to foreshadow surrogacy.

I'd enjoy it if the next season had to deal with the usual issues of the couple who want, but don't, have a child trying to deal with a relative who is expecting. There's a lot of complexity and potential for certain kinds of humor there.

There's no way she's going to be their surrogate.

Gloria and the rest of the family were pretty freaked out by the idea of Claire doing it, so yeah, I don't think she's going to be a surrogate either.
