Have some great experiences with Kelowna. Just visiting, though. But you gotta remember that Kamloops-Kelowna rivalry. Go Blazers!

I've met JR. Whatever a scumbag is, he ain't. You, on the other hand... well, your posts speak for themselves.

  4. What, to smile and say, "Thanks, may I have another" as someone kicks you in the teeth? Don't think so.

  5. Love those Internet bullies.

As for yourself ... well, enough scumbags for one day.

  6. Yes, FoF certainly did start it. With a comment that, if the words "blacks" or "Muslims" were used instead of "Americans," would be deemed totally unacceptable.

I'm not sure why I'm even wading into this, but I will.

As big a dick as Lymon is, he was sort of right at the first instance. FotF shouldn’t have just punted in with a slap at the US. I can’t say that I’ve been everywhere, but I have been to quite a few places. Saying that not a single US city would come close to beating any of those in the top ten list is simply untrue.

Hell, number 5 on the list is Montreal. When I was there this past summer, my wife felt it was absolutely a bore and the people were crass. Between the summer squatters spitting all over the street and cursing in French and attempting to start a fight (one the dirty bastard wasn’t going to win) had me feeling quite the opposite of what this list describes.

Toronto is a city I love and have been to multiple times. I have friends that live up. I’ve drank with JR at a bar several years ago. I won’t rank that as different at all from Boston. I didn’t receive more “thank you” and “you’re welcome” comments there.

Those that know me know that I’m not some jerk that walks around with a sourpuss on my face.

In terms of politeness, the place that I would say was the friendliest was Charleston, West Virginia. People were literally saying hello and good morning as I walked by them. Now, I’m not saying that this is the nicest place in the world. But, my experience says that it was more polite than either Montreal or Toronto and I would much rather return to Montreal and Toronto (I will return) than Charleston.

Charleston was nice. It wasn’t perfect as I did see some ugly looks here and there, but outwardly, people were quite polite. My wife was particularly surprised at the random hellos we received. It was much more than at home or any other place we had been.

As I am traveling to Calgary next year, I’m hopeful that the city is as welcoming as advertised. It is a trip that I am truly looking forward to.

None at all. I really don't care about politeness. I care about entertainment and enjoyment. :D
