    I've given up. I'd rather be a stringer, cover the events that interest me and not deal with the BS on a day-in, day-out basis. The money isn't anywhere near enough to justify it.

    Well if you've noticed Mark, there's not a whole hell of a lot of jobs these days to go to out of this business. Unless, you know, you're independently wealthy or got a bunch of tuckaway money to live on your own...or, let's say a spouse who makes enough on her own to support whatever you do.

    Paper companies like CNHI are just riding out the time, kind of like someone on hospice. Harvesting whatever they can until there's nothing left.

    The point is the money in newspapers isn't all that great. Lots of other things people can do to make as much or more.

    Guess what "temporary" measure will be continued for the third quarter?

    Yup, that will put us at 95 days since this whole bloodbath started in the second quarter of 2009.

    Colton, my count is 85 (see below), but that sure doesn't make it any better. We've also eliminated three positions going to a pagination hub and that has been nothing but problems (we weren't ready, the hub wasn't ready, the software wasn't ready), just more work and new tasks for those of us who remain. Sigh.

    Any reason to think that is ever going to change?

    I found I might as well use the whole thing to my advantage: take my days when I could use them for a trip or something when I needed the time off. Funny part was our copy desk was working 4-day weeks to begin with. One of my colleague added it up and came up with the number that, with holidays and furloughs he was off more days than he was at the office. Classic!

    Let's say you make $500 a week. May be high for CNHI (I remember a major college beat being advertised for $18,000 not too long ago).

    That's $42,500.

    Sorry if some of you are throwing up in your mouth.

    My source says they're not even counting these for salaried people. For them, this is a "salary reduction program."

    Bless your hearts people. Talk about difficulty in motivation.
