I kinda like that TV first generation color tv film stock circa 1967. And it was cool to again see the Greatest Game Ever Played.

It was better when it was Classic Sports Network and showed stuff from before ESPN became a network. The league networks, team controlled and RSNs do a lot of that now.

Didn't Classic show that Dick Enberg sports quiz show from the Seventies?

Sports Challenge. Loved it. Lots of big name athletes and Hall of Famers competed on that show. It's first time I got to hear some classic calls, like Russ Hodges "The Giants win the pennant."

Dick Enberg and Merlin Olsen were perhaps the best tv team for NFL games. Olsen never got an ego the way John Madden did.

What drove ESPN Classic out of business wasn't a lack of interest, it was the fact that all of that stuff is at my fingertips now through YouTube or other streaming services. Speaking of, Pluto TV has obtained 13 seasons of This Week in Baseball and placed it in its On Demand category.

Yeah, somebody leaving something for a podcast is the new "spend more time with the family" excuse. Hoping it's great and leads to a return to the airwaves.

I still think the concept of a "We're Airing Classics Sports Bar" might work.

Say you're in Boston ... you show replays of the most memorable games -- 1975 World Series Game 6, as one example, and all of those Super Bowl wins, and so on. I think reliving the moment with like-minded fans could be a draw.
