So that was the stench floating in from the west. I thought it was just the septic tank leaking again ...

Seriously...it would be nice if the head of one of the nation's major newspaper groups knew that "comprised of" is wrong.

    EDIT: Localness? Localness?!

Also notice that after they talk of major company and corporate mergers that they will hire more sales staff while, in so many words, continuing to slash and burn newsrooms.

So, let's see ... more people will be selling to fewer and fewer clients while fewer people in the newsroom will be on hand to work an increasing number of media platforms.

Yup ... makes perfect sense. ::)

MLB franchise ownership is a giant tax racket/boondoggle, and has been for as long as most of us have been alive.

And it will be as long as there's an expanding marketplace for the product.

Check it out. Since it's the only thing Fredo ever succeeded at in his life, you KNOW just what a racket it is.

This would be comical if people's jobs and newspapers weren't at stake.

22 percent from online? With that product? And they think they are going to have 50 percent of their revenues from online? Well, there's liable to be more competition for those online advertising dollars. The "free press" ol' Dean speaks of might be a bit more difficult, because the reporters he underpays might be competing with people who can report and write as well and are entrepreneurial enough to put out their own local news.
