Hey man, you're on a journalists' message board and you asked if a folded paper was still around. Don't be taken aback if someone mocks you for that. Several former Rocky staffers post here, as do former staffers of virtually every shuttered paper from the last 30 years.

What would be the best tabloid left in the United States? I loved the Chicago Sun-Times of the 70's. But it is now a shell. I have always heard that Newsday was top-notch but have rarely seen it. I don't see the Post or the Daily News enough to make a judgement.

I did not work there other than as a delivery boy but this was an interesting thread.

Darned good read. Get to the very end.

This sentence just left me shaking my head. Oh, the good old days:

Once, during a run as Post sports editor, Paige asked everyone in the department for their professional wishes and granted them all.

I have only met Woody Paige when he spoke to my high school journalism class. This article portrays him as very likable fellow. My sense is that is not the consensus of those who post here. Where does the truth lie?

Great read as I posted on the other thread. Making the rounds with my former Rocky colleagues.

And an awesome line by the great Mike Littwin: "They forgot to mention we used to kick their ass, which doesn’t mean I’m not rooting for them now."

Uh, the RMN definitely did not kick the Post's ass in sports.
