You're right. It's wrong to blame Tom. He's just the guy who's there now holding the bag. Got a call from one colleague there. Had 20-plus years under their belt and still shown the door. Moddy you were fortunate and wise to get out when you did.
I never thought such a blood bath would happen in Richmond.

That appears to be the vogue thing in journalism.

Why not? Why would Richmond be immune? That's not a challenge, it is a question.

    I know it's not a challenge.
I just never thought that I would see the day that something like this would happen in Richmond. Don't get me wrong, always knew that it could, I just didn't think that it would.
I'm in shock, especially when I think about some of the people I heard who are now history.
I remember a nice town with two papers battling for everything from prep signings to Chuck Richardson updates.
Just sad to see how the mighty have truly fallen.

Tom has always been standup. It comes with the territory.

    But ...

Harry Meem? Elvis has left the building. The conscience and soul of the desk has been shown the door.

God save the Republic. Newspapers can no longer do that job.

One of many, many, MANY with years of service shown the door unceremoniously.

I'm still stunned that Rex Bowman was let go. I know I shouldn't be surprised at anything these days, but I am.

That flat out fucking sucks for Rex and everyone else there.

This is the biggest crock of bullshit with corn in it that I've read. Somebody should give him a drug test!!!!
"Despite today’s announcement, our news mission at the RTD remains clear,” Vice President and Executive Editor Glenn Proctor said. “We will provide readers and viewers with a vibrant news website and print product worth reading every day. We will do that by sharpening our focus on state and municipal government, state and local politics, education, crime and public safety, college and prep sports, and, of course, the economy and business.”
