    I just watched Livingston's again.

It looks like right after he did it his leg could have just snapped off.

Another nominee: Emile Griffith killing Benny "Kid" Paret. Terrible to watch.

Malarchuk is #1. Everyone else is a distant second.

Two people in the stands had heart attacks when this happened.

I've never seen that fight but have read lots about it.

Years ago I went to a Top Rank Boxing card in Buffalo when Grifith was working with Riddick Bowe who was on the undercard. Somehow ended up at Emile's table back at the hotel bar drinking until 4 a.m. Terrific guy, with loads of great stories to tell. And man could be drink. I have no idea how many triple scotches he put away.

It was a championship boxing bout at Madison Square Garden in 1962 that was shown live on national television. It was the third fight between the two. From my understanding, at the weigh-in prior to the fight, Paret made a slur about Griffth's sexual orientation.

During the latter stages of the fight, Griffith had Paret on the ropes and hit him with about 17 or 18 unanswered shots before the ref finally stopped it. Paret collapsed right in front of the TV cameras and later died.

For years afterward, the TV networks wouldn't show live fights. They showed them on tape delay.

There was an excellent documentary a few years ago I think it was called "Ring of Fire" (I could be wrong though). It discussed the fight, and showed a crying Griffith meeting Paret's son 40 years later. One of the most touching scenes I've ever watched on TV.

I knew a guy who was at that game. He said there were people all over the arena throwing up in the aisles and passing out during the time Malarchuk was on the ice. I agree, it's a horrific scene.
