And I'm still waiting for Murphy to show up in the Batman Forever poster.

    Let me get this straight:
The guy who did The Graduate, Midnight Cowboy, Papillon, All The President's Men, Marathon Man, Tootsie, Wag The Dog and perhaps the definitive "Death Of A Salesman" is awful?
    Do I have that right?
And who rates as a great actor in the mind that spit out this opinion? John Shea?

All that, and not even a mention of Rainman, to boot.

OK, some of these nominees I can understand, even if I don't agree.

But I draw the line at Pacnio and Hoffman. Both earned lifetime passes in the 70's, and both can still bring it if the role is right.

Same goes for Deniro, if anyone nominated him (these pages kind of run together).

Are their best years behind them? Perhaps. But to call them over-rated is to use an almost obscene amount of hyperbole.

Several other nominees also earn passes from me for notable performances in the past:

Nick Cage (Raising Arizona, Leaving Las Vegas)
Ben Affleck (harder to justify -- he can and does suck a lot -- but still liked him in Chasing Amy and GWH)
Robin Williams (Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, GWH)
Denzel (Someone actually nominated him? You've got to be kidding me)

  6. People shouldn't bash Pacino, but that doesn't mean Hoffman isn't, well, great.
There are movies -- most of them, romantic comedies so light they float off the screen -- where Rock Hudson isn't terrible. He's pretty good in Giant, too.

    Couple things:
Welcome to OHB Sr., who just registered.

Add Paycheck to the list of movies Affleck was good in.

Holy fuck does shockey use a lot of fucking smilies.

    That's all.

No problem with it at all, just an observation.

I don't dislike Denzel as an actor as much as some on this thread, but I do agree he plays the same guy a lot.

And if we're going to diss Shatner, than it has to be said that David Caruso is worse, much worse. At least Shatner on Trek would pick his spots. Caruso says EVERY line on CSI Miami with the same self-important delivery.

That acting on that show is awful. I can't watch it.

  12. The corpses are pretty good, I think.
