Good question. A Marx Brothers movie or two should be on the list
and Peter Sellers has to be there somewhere

 

Of course the list is biased against B&W movies. It's "most quotable" movies. Most people out there have never seen a Marx Brothers movie (to use your example) -- or any black and white movie, really -- so they won't be quoting one very much. In fact, I'd bet most of the people who created and read the list were born after 1980. OK, at least 1970. Never mind Dr. Strangelove and Animal Crackers, Caddyshack is ancient history to them.

Not a bad list. Lots to quibble over in terms of placement, but to me the 3 worst omissions were Naked Gun, Young Frankenstein and Kentucky Fried Movie.

 

I'm constantly surprised at how few people have seen Kentucky Fried Movie. I'm not as surprised that fewer have seen Amazon Women on the Moon and Top Secret, but all are tremendous.
