Missouri smacked with more tornadoes today, with Sedalia (home of the State Fair and Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival, among others) getting hit earlier this afternoon. Tore the shit out of a gas station and Sutherlands and some trailers and homes, but no deaths reported. I worked at the sports department there in the early to mid-'90s and still have friends in town, and I'm thankful they're all OK.

If anyone ever gets the chance to witness a high school sporting event in Greensburg, KS....you should do it.

I reffed the boys/girls sub-state semi-finals/finals there. The basketball gym/high school.......looks like an NBA arena.
The high school field? First 80 yard turf high school football field in U.S.

It's amazing what FEMA money can do.

Nice that FEMA could come through. Down here, they're telling three-quarters of those who lost houses to pound sand.

Having watched the OKC TV stations cover Tuesday's storms, must admit they do a helluva job. Station I was watching had multiple radars going, storm chasers in the field and all the on-air folks were professional. No hysteria, just the facts, folks. Scary moment: At one point, one of the weather folks said, "So many tornadoes on the ground, we can't keep track of them."

Sedalia update: No more school this year — because the tornado fucked up all the buses.

The Wichita radio station I referred to earlier is taking two vans of stuff to Joplin today. I'm meeting my friend in Pittsburg and we're meeting another alum of our high school who is a member of the church at 7th and Range Line. At some point, we're going to the radio stations where he once worked to we'll be going by. Even though I was in Joplin when the storm hit, I went straight home afterwards and haven't seen the damage in person.

We should be connecting at 69 and 400 south of P-burg 10:30, if going to there via 400 takes about the same time as it does to get to where I live from Wichita.

Nice baseball field too. I think the Royals paid for most if not all of it.

I'm not sure it's the first. I believe Trent, Texas had one put in four years ago.

Those number are the closest to the sideline that I've ever seen. Look like less than 2 feet between them and the sideline.

And, finally, someone in Joplin was a naughty boy (or girl, who am I to judge?):
