Just finished watching the re-imagined "Halloween." One, it's Rob Zombie's best movie to date. Two, that ain't saying much. All in all, it was kind of boring.

Saw it last night before I went to Yuk Yuks. I loved the film. One of the best of the year.

Mrs. OOP and I saw it tonight and both enjoyed it. I agree on the performances. They are outstanding. Page really is something special.

Saw "Walk Hard" this afternoon....it's OK. Parts of it are very, very silly. A couple of the songs are funny, John C. Reilly is quite good, Eddie Vedder and Jack White have cameos in it and SportsJournalists.com fave Jenna Fischer looks really hot as hippie chick. It's worth seeing at a matinee or waiting when it comes to DVD.

Charlie Wilson's War: solid. 4 stars. Good acting by Hanks. Hella good acting by Philip Seymour Hoffman.

I wouldn't say it's among the best of the year -- certainly not this year -- but it had a lot going for it. But it just fell apart in the final half an hour. So many great directions they could have gone instead.

Also, the missus and I were both confused about something in the plot. Someone who has a good handle on the story, PM me? It's bugging me.

National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Two and half stars. Kind of like a moped, it is a fun ride but you feel stupid for enjoying it. As if the first "clue" referring to something that didn't exist at the time it was written wasn't enough of a stretch, it gets even more preposterous and ridiculous at the end to make the first one look like a documentary. But Helen Mirren and Bruce Greenwood are in it, so its nice to know they earned a decent check.

Watched "Sideways" again last night. Not sure why, but it was so much better this time around. But I still am not a fan of the ending scene.

Out of five, for two issues: the opening sequence which plays loose with some facts and the fact that there's really nothing in the movie explaining that it takes place over 9 years.

    Why? Too open-ended?

Well, I can appreciate that Miles finally got off his ass and over his 2-year depression and decided to pursue life, and Mya. But the knock and the door and the fade to black didn't give me any sense of closure. I know that's what life is about sometimes: not knowing what happens next. In this case, I wanted something better.

Still a terrific flick; a former colleague is an extra during the bar scene (he's playing pool left-handed).
