That's what I thought. No, it definitely doesn't give a sense of closure....except for the fact of Miles taking action rather than just feeling sorry for himself.

Cody sounds like a piece of work. I didn't realize Page was even 20. She could pass for 14 in the movie, much less 16.

I am really looking forward to seeing Charlie Wilson's War. And, as an XMas gift to myself, I ordered a DVD of The Rocket--the original, who skated for Les Habitants--from B&N. Cannot wait to see it.

Just got back from "Aliens vs. Predator-Requiem" and really enjoyed it. You have to enjoy cheesy sci-fi action movies with little character development to like it, but I do and I did.

It cleaned up some of the mistakes of the previous AVP flick, most notably, making the Predator too likable. This Predator is no friend of the humans, he's simply there to kill Aliens and anyone unfortunate enough to get in his way.

Also, I went into the first AVP expecting to see hordes of Aliens because the trailer showed hundreds of them climbing a pyramid (turned out be a flashback kinda thing). This one came through with plenty of them.

Special effects were excellent, though the movie was a bit dark at times and hard to see the action. It took a while to get going, but the last 40 minutes or so were well worth the $6.

I won't give away much of the ending with what follows (in fact, if you haven't seen it, it will probably mean nothing to you), but if you don't want to know anything about it:
    SPOILERS BELOW

The end did set up a third flick in such a way that we might finally see what I've been hoping for in this series -- an AVP movie set in space instead of Earth, and hopefully featuring the space marines. Hopefully, it will pan out.

The pantheon of Alien and/or Predator movies as I see them:

    1. Alien (absolute classic, one of the few movies that ever scared me as a kid)
    2. Aliens (some say it was better than the original. I say they're crazy. Excellent movie, though)
    3. Predator (Ahnold at his finest and truly badass)
    4. Aliens vs. Predator-Requiem (see above)
    5. Predator 2 (Danny Glover and Gary Busey ... Now THAT'S cinema!)
    6. Alien 3 (panned by everyone, but I didn't think it was that bad)
    7. Aliens vs. Predator (had its moments and it was cool to see them on-screen together ... Predator was too likable, not enough aliens)
    8. Alien Resurrection (I still don't know what the hell to make of the weird mother/offspring dynamic between Ripley and the weird juvenile alien at the end. Kinda creepy and not in a good way)

steal me ... gorgeous movie. stunning visuals of montana. i want to go and eperience what i just saw though it reminded me uber much of vermont and new hampshire. danny alexander is a star, and the girl who plays lilly rose is ... the softest pedal with just enough prick of thorn. i'm watching it again right now just tto feel the visuals again. 4.75 stars.

Finally got around to seeing Hard Candy last night ... great movie. Ellen Page was fantastic. Highly recommend it to anyone who likes intense thrillers (especially with really creepy pedophilia aspects!).

Not nearly as dopily charming as the first, but a guilty pleasure of mine for sure ... I must have been the only guy in the theater over 15. I loved it!

Ebert wrote something like that it was like tennis without a net, or without a ball, or without racquets, and that he didn't know what any of that meant, but it was a good way to explain the movie -- yup, that's it.

Maybe this is pointless to post about since many who post here weren't even born in 1987, but I just finished watching "Lethal Weapon: The Director's Cut." Maybe it's just me, but action movies just haven't been as appealing or fun as the ones in the late 80s, early/mid 90s.

Saw "Sweeney Todd" today. Good but not great.

Try watching all of them in a row. It's amazing how so many of the jokes carry over.
You're right. They don't make them like they used to.

Watched the original Die Hard twice last week for myself and a friend who had never seen it before. Every time I watch it, it's gold.
