My 4-year-old watched all three of those Star Wars shows last week. I have a feeling it's going to cost me a lot of money.

He had only seen the first of the three new movies. So it was pretty exciting for him. He was a little confused by the father-son deal. I imagine it's hard to understand that relationship when you're still young enough to ask such things as, "Dad, who came out of your belly?"

If you're in the mood for a gritty flick, see "Before The Devil Knows You're Dead." Sidney Lumet is still on the top of his game. In lesser hands it could have been turned into a dark comedy Tarantino-esqe caper film. But Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke, Marisa Tomei and Albert Finney are in top form. Marisa especially in the first scene, and later with Hawke. Great film.

Watched 1986's "Gung Ho" on HBO the other day. Now that was fun.

Just finished watching "Alien vs. Predator: Requiem." Surprisingly, it didn't totally suck. Of course, having hotter-than-hell Michelle Dessler from "24" may have skewed my perception.

    Fixed. :)

Naked Marisa is unbelievable, but I thought this movie just kept getting more and more horrific until it ended. No payoff.

If it makes you feel better, "Babel" didn't win best picture. It lost to "The Departed".

I am grateful, on multiple levels.

  11. I'm still going with "Chariots Of Fire."
    Or "Cavalcade."

Anyone wanting to see a movie about writers, I saw Face In The Crowd, featuring Walter Mathau as a writer for an Arkansas hillbilly-turned-national opinion maker played by Andy Griffith. It came out in 1957 and was directed by Elia Kasan. Great material, somewhat similar to All The Kings Men (the original) and Citizen Kane and for my money, better than All The Kings Men.
Also really enjoyed The TV Set, directed by Jake Kasdan and starring David Duchovney as a writer trying to get a TV pilot on a network schedule. Great cast and funny stuff. Kind of the antithesis in tone of Studio 60, but just as good. Fans of 30 Rock will love this movie.
