I watched Romancing the Stone the other day. It reminded me about the general greatness of '80s movies. "Wimp. Wimp. Loser. Loser. Major loser."

I watched Cassandra's Dream. It was great. It was dark for Woody Allen.

I watched "Once" the other night. Loved it. The music was great and it was just a nice movie. Definitely recommend it.

Great movie. One of the best of 2007. I was enamored with the Russian girl.

As for "Newsies," I got 70 minutes into it and fell asleep. Will watch the rest tonight. But man, it's like the script could've been written two weeks ago considering what's going on right now with the industry.

The funniest -- FUNNIEST -- line so far is when Pulitzer is having the meeting with his 2 lackeys trying to figure out how to make more money. The balding, quivier-voiced dude says they could charge the newsies more. The other lackey scoffs. So the first lackey says, to the effect, "well, we could cut salaries -- starting at the top," and Pulitzer and the other lackey look at each other in a whaaaaat?!?! sort of way before the lightbulb above Pulitzer's head shines bright and he agrees that charging the newsies more is, indeed, a right-fine idea. Funny, funny (yet sad) moment.

Just watched Street Kings. Wow, what a piece of shit flick.

I don't know what sucked harder, this film or We Own The Night.

Both were monumental wastes of talented actors and both gave viewers a piss-poor attempt at a "plot twist". Fuck both these films.

Deal. It'll be a few days before my 38th birthday. And what better way to celebrate No. 38 then to trollop in the streets of Toronto. I'll go find Dougie Gilmour and tell him to stop whining about a few drops of blood between movies.

So, finished "Newsies." Entertaining, and funny (not in a ha-ha way) when you consider the state of the industry. They could've written that script a few weeks ago. The musical is entertaining. 3.5 stars out of 5.

my sassy girl --- really a sweet love story. funny too. "charlie" and "jordan" are one of the cool movie couples i've seen in a while. natural chemistry. the type of couple i want to use for a new genre. cool direction and camera techniques but i wish i could've been there during post-production to make 2-3 things better. 3.75 stars out of 5.

Not a bad choice at all.

I came across a box of my old VHS tapes the other day and uncovered a dusty copy of "Twister." In 1996, like just about everyone else who contributed to its $240M gross, I thought it was a great movie. Twelve years later, I was stunned how awful it really is.

    Among the lowlights:

    * Cary "He's in it for the money, not the science" Elwes spewing out classic lines like "The days of sniffing the dirt are over."
    * Bill Paxton as a leading man? Huh? What?
    * Phillip Seymour Hoffman, channeling his inner Jack Black, explaining the nuances of "the suck zone." Who knew he was providing a title.

    Ugh ...

Hey, those special effects still hold though. Besides, who watched that movie for the story? Shiiiiiiit. Only reason I tuned in was to see those twisters mess things up. Oh, and the cows.
