Tropical Thunder was a scream. There's a mad genius rampant in this flick.

    the go-getter.

a modern take on huck finn done oh so well, starting from eugene, oregon, and floating down the west coast into ensenada, mexico.

lou taylor pucci and zooey deschanel need to be cat together again. deschanel is not seen, but heard, for the first half of the journey.

loved the visuals and camera work. m. ward did the music, and he and zooey sang the ending song.

good effort all the way across the board.

Just saw a pair of chick-type comedies.

What Happens In Vegas (A-): Great flick with good chemistry between Diaz and Kutcher. Funny, enjoyable and has an actual plot. Sort of predictable, like most of the movies in this category, but it's a good ride and worth a repeat viewing.

Baby Mama (B-): Fey is definately lead-actress material and the first 3/4 of this movie is solid. The ending is wrapped WAY too neatly and, to me, felt like a cop-out. Don't think I'd see this again.

If anyone's interested, The Cooler, with William H. Macy and Maria Bello is just starting on IFC (EST).

    Great, great movie.

I watched Outsourced last night, and I think my wife liked more than I did. It had some funny moments, and I learned a little about India.

Yeah, I liked it a lot.

So, I've rented so many movies in the last year that I forget what I've seen, and the other day I rented one I saw about 3 months ago. D'oh. It was Friends With Money, and I got it because I like Jen Aniston. She's good. And in this one, she's good. I have yet to see her in a bad movie. Anyhoo, the ending is good stuff. Really good stuff. Tremendous way to fade to black: strong but not sappy, and it reinforces how good Aniston is.

Just watched 88 Minutes courtesy of Redbox and even for $1 I felt like I was ripped off.

What a great concept. What a great leading actor. What a truly awful film.

I knew going in that it wasn't going to be great and figured to just ignore all the bad negative word of mouth but boy was I wrong.

This didn't feel so much like a film as it did one of those moments I'll look back on when I'm 92 and in my death bed and say "Shit, I wish I could have those two hours back."

Too many disposable characters, an absolutely absurd "twist", terrible pacing, god I could go on and on and on.

Pacino is officially off my "Actors I trust in any role" list. And the chick from Deep Impact? She's off my "I wanna bone" list too.

    Grade= F-

kabluey ... kind of freaky deaky in a trippy way. i think it would be a hoot to watch this in an altered state; iffin i still did that. lisa kudrow stars in it, and some guy i've never heard of dresses in a costume that is the blue version of the yellow AIM running man. it's an enjoyable little 80-minute cruise.

about to start midnight cowboy for the first time. what should i expect?

Just re-watched Private Parts for the first time since I was a kid and I've got to say...that movie was awesome.

I loved the whole thing, the behind-the-scenes arguments with management, the evolution of Howards Stern's show, the interactions with Robin.

    A+

God, I forgot what it was like to watch an actually intelligent comedy. :)
