the secret: something about david's wife dying in a car wreck and 'coming back' somehow, I guess, in his daughter's body? think she was in the wreck, too. it sounded a little interesting, mother getting to understand daughter more in a freaky friday-type of way. maybe. but the last line on the back of the box said something about rekindling the mom/dad relationship in a way that seemed to indicate romance.

that's odd and a little off, to me, but the owners of the joint have it stickered as an 'owner's pick,' and they tend to know what they're talking about ... so I'm torn.

My bad. i realize what you meant just now. "The Secret" is pretty good. Thirlby's star is rising. I definitely envision her and Nick Stahl in a 3-movie story. I'd love to get with a screenwriter and hash out the vision.

So I finished "Midnight Cowboy" ... what a trippy flick.

    Just saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall....

    Was pretty disappointed.

I expected a knock-down, drag out comedy because I've loved the other Apatow flicks (Walk Hard being the exception) and I loved Segel on Undeclared and HIMYM but this film just didn't do it for me.

I felt that the Peter-Sarah moments were well done and real, I liked the guy from 30 rock and loved the music (especially this NSFW song->
) but can't see myself giving it anything better than a C+ and that's generous.

I like the chick who played Rachel but felt the romance was rushed at best.

Maybe it will be better on a repeat viewing, but frankly, I'm a little sad right now. I was expecting so much more.

Eh, there's always Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit.

  6. Watched Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins.
    It sucked.
    Mike Epps was funny.
Martin Lawerence, who had a great show with Martin, is constantly mis-used in movie roles.
Why don't they develop a good vehilce for to use the same talents he had on Martin?

I've never even heard of Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins. But do yourself a favor. The next time you decide to watch a movie, check IMDB's ratings. They never steer me wrong. Generally, I don't watch much that has fewer than six stars, but there are a few stinkers that I watch for various reasons.

Most of the time, I stick to movies with eight or more stars. I've watched some great ones I had no idea existed. There have been a few about which I wasn't wild, but no truly horrific flicks. My wife thinks I'm neurotic. And I am. I just can't bear to watch a bad movie. She always thanks me after we watch something I picked.

By the way, your Roscoe movie was rated 3.8 stars.

  8. I will keep that in mind.

    Thanks

felt the same ... and, as posted in letters ... watch out for that 'extended' version.

Watched "The Brave One" with Jodie Foster today. I thought Jodie Foster was good, but the movie was mediocre.

I watched that flick a while back and all I could think was "God, why am I watching this?"

They really wasted a good premise and a pair of good actors (Foster and the guy who plays Sayid from Lost) in exchange for a shaky at best revenge flick.
