Just rewatched The Dark Knight for the first times since I saw it on opening night and I'm actually surprised to say this but...it's even better on the second viewing.

The first time, I thought the finale between the Joker and Batman was a let-down and hurried but watching things with a knowing eye, it occured to me how well the movie was written in that the finale is set up from the opening scenes and expanded on throughout the whole film.

I rarely say this about films, but this movie is a 9.5/10.

I watched "Re-Animator" tonight. Hmmmmm. Uh. Strangely creepy and fun. And Dr. Hill looks like John Kerry.

It tries really hard to be something that would have been comfortable in Hollywood's golden age. Luhrman gave the Wizard of Oz a strong push for that reason. In some parts, the photography is so striking it could stand alone on prints. Lop off a half hour and it's a decent date movie. Not much more.

  4. Juist got it from Netflix. Plan to watch it tonight.
    Very. Excited.

Rent Moulin Rouge. Man makes gorgeous pictures.

His version of La Boheme on Broadway was a tremendous treat to the eye.

Strictly Ballroom is well worth your time. I also enjoyed his adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, though I realize it's not for everyone.

I've seen it twice now. Once regular and once in Blu-Ray. Heath Ledger was brilliant as The Joker. Academy Award nom at the least.

I particularly loved the disappearing pencil trick myself. However, Ledger's performance and the way he did it all was just absolutely fantastic. And I loved how they worked TwoFace into it.

  10. The disappearing pencil made me laugh out loud out as his casual cruelty. I also laughed out loud when the mobster told Batman a fall from that height wouldn't kill him. I saw that one coming.

Outstanding nearly all the way around.

    Ledger was great.
Maybe Oscar, maybe not not but a truly great turn as the Joker.
I hope Jack chokes on his peanut butter sandwich after watching Heath's run.

As great as I thought Jack was as the Joker in the original Batman, Heath burned that performance to the ground. Since the Joker isn't dead, whoever fills that purple suit has a lot to live up to.
