Saw "The Last King of Scotland" recently, Forrest Whitaker's Oscar-winning turn as Idi Amin. Awesome, awesome flick and a great performance from Whitaker. James McAvoy was excellent as well. Both men did a great job portraying the escalating mania their characters faced.

Great flick. I wish more people had seen it. Even after Whitaker won the Oscar, I don't think anyone did.

If you use Netflix, and you don't go into an abject coma at the thought of silent pictures, GRAB 1927's Sunrise. The plot's solid, much of the acting's amazing, there's more humor than you'd expect, and the composition of the shots is Godfather-esque.

    Thank me later.

Ledger winning Best Supporting Actor is such a given this year it's not even funny.

This year is as loaded as all the acting categories have been in years and years.

Not the deep, golden year for films 2007 was, but perhaps so for individual performances.

Excellent movie. Whitaker earned the Oscar. But McAvoy could've won it; I'm a big McAvoy fan. Just tremendous every way around. The love scene between McAvoy and Whitaker's wife was so erotic in the cleanest, most tasteful way, and the musical backdrop during the humpery was the best part. I can watch it over and over and not get sick of it.

And there aren't enough words to laud Ledger's Joker.

And yet the whole time you're watching it going, "Oh, no. This is not going to end well."

    WFW.

Last King of Scotland was incredible flick.

  10. Saw the Last King of Scotland a whole back and really enjoyed.
Initially, I thought McAvoy played the Idi Amin's (real life) Englishn henchman Bob something or other..
    Good movie.

On another note, also watched Iron Man last night.
Not even comparable to the Dark Knight.
Iron Man was a decent flick, they did a good job adapting his orgin to modern times, but it was simply a popcorn, action flick.

I finally saw Eternal Sunshine the other night. What a beautifully fucked-up movie.

I know I will probably get myself in some shit here, but if I was forced to choose between TDK and Iron Man, I would have to go with Iron Man, Downey is one of my faves and the one thing I didn't like about TDK was how stone Christian Bale is.
