I saw Eastern Promises today and liked it a lot, although it was *really* violent and I closed my eyes a lot (sue me, I'm squeamish). Viggo Mortenson was great in it - really mastered the Russian accent.

Last night, I saw an interesting documentary on DVD - Little Dieter Must Fly. It was about Dieter Dengler, who the movie Rescue Dawn (very good, IMHO) was about. Both the documentary and the movie were directed by Werner Herzog. In the doc, Dieter Dengler returned to the Laotian jungle with the film crew and recreated the march his captors took him on when he was a POW. It was chilling.

BTW, love this thread. Took long enough!

Are movies really $15 up there? I paid $6 yesterday for an early matinee (regular price $9) of Eastern Promises.

Good Luck Chuck's opening had me laughing very hard of what I saw of it.

Feast of Love looks like a good movie.

Are there any movies that Joaquin Phoenix will be starring in soon? I want to know so I can boycott them after his behaviour at the Toronto Film Fest (see the PETA thread).

    What a snotbag and douchebag!

Yes, but I can't remember the title. Mark Ruffalo is also in it. It's probably what Joaquin was up in Toronto to promote.

It's called "We Own the Night" with Mark Wahlberg, Robert Duvall and Eva Mendes. It looks really good and I'm looking forward to seeing it.

The one I was referring to was "Reservation Road." I saw the trailer on Sunday. Ruffalo plays a professor who kills Phoenix's son in a hit and run.

You got that right. Pure asshole this guy has become. And to think I actually thought he was decent.
