    A moment of selfishness ...

Yeah, it sucks kids lost a milestone moments in their educational careers (just like mine has). But the kids have their whole lives ahead of them. They will be telling stories to their kids and grandkids about the pandemic of 2020. Their lives are paused, but will continue.

The metric shit ton of older workers who've lost their jobs due to this might not have that luxury. Our lives are on pause, but not might restart due to the affects on the economy. Going from making a very good living to $11 an hour part-time is no way to prepare for a retirement that you thought was just over the horizon a year ago.

    Not selfish.

I have an over abundance of time right now and I go to some very dark places thinking about the future.

Things are sucking in general but I'm 50, had that birthday just as the pandemic hit, and the things I do for money are on pause or slowed to a trickle. The reality is that those things aren't going to come back and I'm staring down a career change when there's no jobs and no prospects.

Someone said this is like being in the 1940 of our lives and I think the sentiment is right but it is more like 1932 and the next 15 to 20 years are going to be among America's worst times. I don't relish that prospect but, on the other hand, I have my health, and a wife with a good, well-paying and stable job. She has her health and there's food in the fridge and a roof over our heads.

So things aren't terrible but thinking about what's next ... it is just depressing.

    Didn't take long, did it?
MLB built in an off day on Friday for these teams. They'll need to exercise that option, and they can do it easier this year because of the limited travel.

It's not selfish at all, Inky. It may have gotten lost in my rant earlier, but I know there are people who have it far worse. I just wanted to drive point home that while some of us may be pointing out the complexities of the situation and the failures of people around us, that doesn't mean we are rooting for it. We have our own personal struggles and the parents among us see the things our children are missing out on, just as DQ does. It all matters, so I didn't much care for DQ claiming that people aren't sympathetic to what his daughter is going through. We're all dealing with a lot of shit right now.

Yes, I cannot wait to watch Juan Soto, my favorite player, play tonight. It will be glorious and as joyous as my wedding day ...
