My third grader's basketball league and facility was having an end of season tourney this weekend. My son's team long ago backed out because not enough could play due to spring break. Being in the league we were still getting emails. They were holding strong on their tourney up until an hour ago.

This is a very well run, but very pay for play and let's profit facility. There are six courts and at these tourneys they are all full blown and the lobby is packed. The governor issued a no over 250 people gathering initiative this morning. The league finally relented and cancelled but their email is just hilarious. Said of the 71 teams only three had backed out (guessing one is my son's, which was long ago backed out), said all the parents and coaches still wanted to play (can't imagine that's close to true) and said but due to the governor's "suggestion," yes in quotes, they wouldn't play. Then ended the email by saying, "Blessings, and be diligent on getting the facts. vs. paranoia and hysteria."

Good lord. I like the place, but get on board. I imagine there are dozens if not hundreds or more of these types of situations all over the country where the likelihood of transmission and spreading is large at their events but the people running them are oblivious. Thank goodness for the real large gatherings finally ending, but danger still lurks big time with these thoughts.

If Texas has surrendered, ain't no one safe. God bless Texas.

No virus here, just 'cue and beer (clap clap clap clap), deep in the heart of Texas...

Well, if brisket and beer won't cure it, I don't want it.

They waited right to the death, as far as most Texas paper deadlines, to call it. Waste Management would be proud.

Anyone else question the rationality of all those who jammed grocery stores in recent weeks to "stock up" (and probably spreading the virus) - and now the stores are empty and being restocked every day.

Also - the WH was smart to schedule the presser AFTER the markets closed.
