She is negative. Phew. I was pretty worried. She definitely has some legitimate symptoms. I know they are commons symptoms, but still. I am relieved.

Minnesota announced yesterday (because MPR did an end-run around an embargo) that they're announcing today that vaccine eligibility will be opened to all adults effective Tuesday. One of the local hospitals' websites appeared to be taking appointments for the general population this morning, so most of the staff jumped into line at the first opportunity. I am waiting until next Friday afternoon because I'm a nice guy like that. I think everyone gets Pfizer.

Good. But we have to factor in that there are various strains of COVID floating about. At least two of them were disclosed after we got wind of effective vaccines for what we originally believed to be COVID.

Interpretation: Anyone who thought their vaccines meant everything was just fine and that we were quickly going to revert to a pre-pandemic world might want to think twice. Then think again.

This pandemic is nowhere close to finished.

I completely agree. I think I mentioned when she started feeling sick it didn't even cross my mind that it was COVID but once the scare happened it actually totally made sense. Maybe even more so with the mild symptoms.

I posted the same thing in a medical group I'm in and there were plenty of responses from people who knew others that got it well after the vaccine. Vaccine doesn't automatically equal going crazy like no pandemic happened, that's for sure.

To make abundantly clear, I hope your wife and anyone and everyone else affected is well. I don't post that trying to exacerbate doom and gloom.

It's just that I am not optimistic all will get back to some semblance of normal as quickly and easily as some are trying to lead us to believe. Having said that, I hope I am seriously wrong.

It is certainly arguable that the vaccine is causing more harm than good, at this point.

People have no self-control. They think it is “party time.”

I think the chances of getting it are incredibly lessened and if you do almost 100 percent not severe. But like you said with variants and carelessness it isn't a magic cure. It will make things better and even more so once most people have them but diligence is going to have to be a piece of this for some time.

Again, the point of the vaccine is to turn COVID from something that will hospitalize or kill you to something akin to a cold. We're not eradicating it.
