Rio. I flew out here for work on Friday night. Sunday afternoon work got canceled, so I changed my flight back to today (was supposed to be here until Saturday).

How does that work? Blockades at every interstate and highway off-ramp, state highways, county roads and back roads?

Ah! Looking at the map, I see it's a coastal county with only four roads in ... but a lot of coastline to protect.

Yeah, basically set up road blocks at a couple of bridges and stop ferry service. Other than maybe the Keys, there probably aren't too many other places uniquely suited to do that. My island has only two bridge access points, but that's only three towns, not most of a whole county. All of Dare County isn't the Outer Banks, but that's the only place most folks would want to go. Heck, some of the natives are so isolated they have their own dialect.

There are only two bridges over Cape Cod, so it could be done in theory there, as well as the Vineyard and Nantucket, but it's not gonna happen. Too late anyway, Cape got its first case on Sunday.

Or you could just wash your butt, then wash your hands. If you get your hands or face dirty, do you try to clean them with a dry paper towel? No, you wash them with soap and water, because it gets you clean far more efficiently. You wash your ass in the shower, right? I mean, I hope you do. In a pinch, soap and water on an old washrag, then wash your hands. It ain't rocket surgery.

There's a Georgia-Pacific plant in south Alabama who announced early on that because they normally service high volume accounts which will no longer be buying much (stadiums, office buildings, hotels, etc) they will have capacity to spare to supply the market. This had no effect on the empty shelf count locally, but I think that will pass after everyone has managed to scrounge a couple of twelve roll packages.

If you are really serious about it, you take a backhoe or something and dig a big trench across the roads to make them impassable to vehicles. China did this in Wuhan.

Leave one main road intact for supplies and necessary movement, but put armed guards on that to enforce the blockade.

As an editor, I strongly advise never to use "that will pass" when writing about toilet paper.
