I'll pick my "disinterested" expert, you pick your "disinterested" expert and we can have a giant steel cage fight with all of the "disinterested" experts various people think should be in charge, to decide how it happens.

Presumably we have an elected government - and its government medical apparatus - to address your question of who should be in charge.

Yup. We do. And our elected government making huge societal and economic decisions that bind us all collectively to their hand-picked winners and losers works out. ... well, not paricularly well most of the time. Our elected government is more of the problem than the solution, in my opinion.

I've been posting a lot of tweets from Sven the last few days, but this conversation made me think of something I saw from him this morning.

    Maybe.

But in a time of pandemic - when collective action might be the only real weapon we have - I'm not sure even the invisible hand has the necessary reach.

That said, the whole thing plays out like a giant version of the Trolley Problem.

From the moment the invaders arrived, breathed our air, ate and drank, they were doomed.
They were undone, destroyed, after all of man's weapons and devices had failed, by the tiniest creatures that God in his wisdom put upon this earth.
By the toll of a billion deaths, man had earned his immunity, his right to survive among this planet's infinite organisms.
And that right is ours against all challenges.

For neither do men live ... nor die ... in vain.

FATUS is done, finished, marginalized, no longer a significant player in all this.

    I have 2 dogs.
The Chocolate Lab on the right and either one of the two pugs are dead ringers to my Fynn and Zek.
Made me chuckle, because that's exactly what Fynn (the lab) does.

Yamiche Alcindor: Mr. President, can you--like in a game of charades--demonstrate what you were doing about the pandemic from January 20th of this year to today?

Bull shit. What we’ve seen of this country is we have a plurality of violent ignorant sociopaths who follow psychopaths who are just grifters and thieves.
