Anthony Fauci is one thing. What about the county health director in Podunk who gets chewed out at the grocery store, death threats in voicemail and has had all meaningful power stripped away by the the state legislature in the name of Chamber of Commerce Jesus?

Unfortunate part of the job, I guess. Can't recall too many instances where a county health director announcement was met with a bunch of "Woohoos!"

I don’t know. Maybe not. That’s between them and Dr. Fauci, who obviously remains in the job.

It goes without saying that any threats are wrong.

I had a fit today while watching the news at lunch. TV clip was of : "15 new COVID-19 vaccine lottery winners are now $50,000 richer." It was juxtaposed, of course, with a preceding clip about the surging problem of homelessness in L.A., complete with pictures of tent cities, and people living on sidewalks, etc.

It's inexcusable that any people in this country are living in such conditions, anyway. But to think that we are, instead, spending piles of get-rich-quick money to encourage people to get a vaccination that, frankly, should be required, is disgusting.

Just saying, because, hours later, this is still making me mad.

Spending money on vaccine lotteries has zip, zero, zilch effect on homelessness in LA.

Of course it doesn't. But it could, and should.

Well, it's not 100% effective. And if you get Covid after being vaccinated, your symptoms should be much less severe. But this will provide more ammo for the anti-vax screech machine.

People who wear seat belts and whose air bags inflate still die in traffic accidents.

That’s ridiculous. California spent $13 billion on homeless programs over the past three years. It’s not a money problem, it’s a treatment and enforcement issue.

My 12-year-old returned today from her weeklong trip to the Tetons. We'll get her the second shot next Saturday.

Yes, the idea of the shot is that you don't end up on a ventilator and folks needing hazmat suits because you're in a special wing of the ICU.

Well, then, I say apply more money to those things. It just shows the money it would take really address such a huge problem. But it's an important issue.
