Our company is giving out $50 gift cards to everyone who emails proof of vaccination. And once we are at 70 percent vaccinated company-wide, mask mandates are dropped in the offices, which start filling back up next month. (Although not with me - I’m permanent work from home.) Last report a couple of weeks ago was - 49 percent. I don’t get it.

At my second job, I got $50 added one time to my paycheck and I get to go mask-free for being fully vaxxed. My newspaper job is making noises about reopening offices, but nothing definitive yet.

Companies are required by law to pay your salary for time you miss when out with COVID. (I’ve had to pay two folks myself.) Seems to me that’s fair reason to require shots for all staff.

I was curious about this, so I looked it up. Per the CDC's most up-to-date data, the Missouri county with the least percentage of its population with at least one shot is Douglas County at 16.7%. Only three other Missouri counties -- Reynolds, Newton and Shannon -- are at less than 20%.
