in early August, WNDB AM-FM, Bernier’s radio home for more than 30 years, announced that the 65-year-old host was being treated in a hospital for covid-19. On Saturday, the station said that Bernier had died.

Bernier was at least the fourth talk-radio host who had espoused anti-vaccine and anti-mask sentiments to succumb to the virus in August. There was also Phil Valentine, 61, a popular host in Tennessee; Jimmy DeYoung, 81, a nationally syndicated Christian preacher also based in Tennessee; and Dick Farrel, 65, who had worked for stations in Miami and Palm Beach, Fla., as well as for the conservative Newsmax TV channel.

    Were those teachers unvaccinated?

Kids are back in the ladyfriend's classroom today. She said the kids mostly followed the mask restrictions last year. Let's see how this year goes.

And that's fine. It's a 53-man roster. The team decides who stays and who doesn't based on several factors. If one of them is because of vaccines, so be it.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was a factor in Cam getting cut.

Of course it was the major factor in Newton getting cut.

This is turning into Kabuki Theater. Unvaccinated players are a competitive disadvantage. ... for multiple reasons. If your goal is to put together the best team possible, a players' vaccination status is going to be a major consideration when doing cuts. This should be cut and dried. The players association should be making noise because that is what they do, but everyone else should be rolling their eyes at it.

Look at the shitball numbers Newton put up last season and it is a little more complex than his usual brand of sulky idiocy/'individualism'

My daughter teaches in a high school with a mask mandate. The first student day was this past Monday and there hasn't been any real pushback regarding masks. She encountered one kid in the hall with the mask under his nose and casually reminded him "gotta pull that thing up". He responded with an unenthusiastic "Oh man" as he reached to pull it up and go on his way.

The teachers have been asked to start slow with the graded work for these first two weeks since the vast majority of students haven't been in a brick and mortar school for 1 1/2 years, and have some adjustments to make. My daughter said the biggest difference she sees is all the phones are out, all the time. So I guess that's what was going on during distance learning.
