His in-laws decided to take a road trip to Mount Rushmore two weeks ago. Hey, they're fully vaxxed ... it'll be fine.
But once they got to their hotel up there, they stuck around even after they overheard the manager telling the front desk folks to start canceling reservations because so many hotel employees were out sick they couldn't keep it running.
They started feeling sick and cut the trip short. They got tested and were positive. My brother told them to go to their primary care physicians and get the monoclonal antibodies. They both refused.
Then his mother-in-law spiked a 103 fever on Saturday night, went to the ER, got the monoclonal antibodies and was home by Sunday afternoon. My brother again told his FIL to get them, he called his doctor - an old timer in his late 60s or so - who said those were only for people who haven't been vaccinated that they he'd be fine. That was Tuesday.
Wednesday night, he started developing a cough. Thursday, he collapsed. They revived him with CPR twice, got him to ICU and on a vent. He coded a few more times. The doctors called my sister-in-law every 30 minutes with updates. She and her mom finally decided to take him off life support around 2 am.
A nurse held a phone up to his ear so they could say goodbye. This stranger held his hand until his heart stopped beating and then quietly told them he was gone.
So now my nieces and nephew have lost one of the grandpas. A wife has lost her husband of ... I think nearly 40 years. My sister-in-law has lost her daddy. My brother has lost a fishing buddy.

So, anyway, tell your people you love them.

Not sure there’s anything particularly exculpatory re: South in there. It seems to say that their reaction to criticism is to engage in the same behavior for which they are criticized. Not smart.

This is in no way comparable to losing a loved one, but the idiocy of the right wing and the damned religious right providing cover for their death lust has ruined tens of millions of lives.
My daughter was married last weekend, unfortunately my wife passed away 5 months ago. It was hard going forward with the wedding, and while it was a beautiful affair and my wife was lovingly remembered, my daughter didn’t have her mother at her wedding because trump and his cult. Her wedding was supposed to be last October, when my wife was still very much alive. COVID cancelled her wedding because the conservatives didn’t do a GODDAMNED thing to mitigate the pandemic from March 2020-September 2020. They bitched and moaned and whined and cried, they trumped, but they didn’t take as seriously as it needed to be taken. My daughter lost her mother before her wedding and my wife was denied one of the joys in life because of unmitigated selfishness of republicans

Should have been an "obs" situation ... i.e., where they probably keep you for a night because they want to double-check and be there in case of complications.

Not sure if this is borderline negligence of the healthcare provider's part, or if they're deeming this time-sensitive and trying to loophole you in. It could also be a case of technology winning in that they're considering that an outpatient procedure. Not sure if it really is - yet.

@heyabbott, the sick, sad legacy of the past five years has left hundreds of thousands of people hurting. I'm sorry your family was among the many who have borne witness to us at our worst.
