Play the aggrieved victim and give themselves cover if/when they pursue their own bioweapons. The shadowy figures on the Other Side (whomever that may be) have been built up to such monstrous proportions in people's fevered imaginations that it's a short leap to buying into their willingness to unleash plague upon the world -- including their own people.

Last weekend people kept doing what they wanted to do. I’m guessing Monday or Tuesday is when a lot of the numbers will start to roll in.

My mom is needing some things from the store. My dad said he's going today.
"No. You're not. Make a list of what y'all need, and I'll got get it."
    "I can..."
"You can make me a list and keep your ass right here. I'll go."

    This.

My father's laptop motherboard crapped out last week. He went to WALMART to check out a new one, eventually buying a used one from a computer store. My brother, eight miles away, blew his top. My mother keeps telling me how she goes to Publix "for stuff." They're 85. They're mentally competent but completely oblivious to the danger, no matter how we plead for them to just stay home.

I swear, your dad should have just said, "Yes, I came into contact with someone a few days ago who tested positive. He's out of town now. Don't know where he is. Now give me the goddamn test."

No, not at all. You were showing symptoms and went through the proper channels to get it.

Tough to do when the nearest confirmed positive is about 55 miles away. But, yeah, I wish he'd lied too.
