We're also not testing dead people for COVID-19, from several stories I've read.

No, the mathematical concept of exponential growth has manufactured the panic. That is, people who can do math are scared shitless. You clearly cannot.

 

This is a good point. I'm amazed it isn't talked about more. The number of dead from this is way, way higher. But they were classified as something else -- pneumonia, respiratory failures, maybe even the flu -- because of lack of tests or slow response or whatever else. I would definitely bet that while it is certain our cases are much higher because of lack of testing, so are the deaths. People who keep using the argument the flu is more dangerous probably are going to lose that fight soon. They already have if you look at the deaths mounting in Italy, but that's another country so why worry, right?

I think I’m making money ... everything around is closed — casino, restaurants, bars, movies, bowling alley — so the places I’m usually heading to aren’t able to take my money. Filled my gas tank for $1.48/gallon, which will last me since there’s nowhere to go. Bought my supplies in preparation for the hunker down, so that expense is gone. Plus getting a few OT hours at work so a few extra bucks coming my way.

Apart from wondering if I or anyone I know will be anywhere on the dead to unemployed spectrum, this might work out all right.
