All the COVID deniers are out there, saying Elon Musk is about to unveil the truth, and the truth shall set you free …

The U.S. accounts for less than 5 percent of the world population. But according to the graphic, it accounted for almost 12 percent of cases and 27 percent of deaths on December 11. Is that really the case, or is it more that a lot of the world isn't doing as good a job of reporting as the U.S. is, and if that is the case, is it worth asking how accurate even the 14-day trend they are reporting is?

All I know is I've got this goddamn chest cold/flu-ish thing again. There are just so many people sick around here right now, especially those with kids. Working remote today so I can steal naps here and there. Two COVID tests, both negative. Dayquil Severe seems to be my friend. Trying to avoid a trip to Patient First if possible. Hoping two work from home days with lot of rest and fluids will help kick it. I did mask up when going to the store for supplies early this morning.

I’m realizing the body needs some exposure to germs and viruses. Two years of masking has left my body completely defenseless. With a three-year old it’s a different type of cold or virus every other week.

Wonder what the unvaccinated portion of recent deaths is and how it compares to a year ago at this time.

Vaccinated people make up a much higher proportion of deaths now. There are probably multiple factors accounting for it. There is waning immunity from the vaccines and a lot of people haven't gotten boosted. And there are new variants. In addition, a lot of unvaccinated people have had Covid, which gives some immunity. And a year ago (or more), people who got vaccines would have been more likely to wear a mask around others, and now most of those people have ditched the masks.

If smallpox vaccine is the Tom Brady of vaccines, COVID's is the Nathan Peterman.

I'm certain that had I caught COVID pre-vaccine, odds are I wouldn't be typing this post. I have a few co-morbidities.

If all the COVID vax did was turn a scourge into me having to lay in bed for a couple days, that's just fine with me. It was never considered a magic bullet.
