The “Be Kind” banners remain in my local toilet paper aisle however.

I still see the social distance stickers. I follow them mostly because I don’t like being that close to most people and it’s a good excuse.

Some people will always be at risk and there appears to be at least a little manipulation of the data to make it work, but this is good news. Of course complications can still be there for some and not being a jerk generally when it comes to thinking of others when you’re sick helps but this is a good sign.

If I never have someone inches behind me in line, I will be ecstatic.

When Food Lion can't get ahold of those carbonated drink specials, we know it's all over.

I still wear a mask in certain settings, doctors office and the hospital.

May that sentiment never be ... wiped ... away.

To be fair, I'm now living in the land of unending Publix stores, with nary a Food Lion or Harris Teeter within 500 miles.

A decade ago Publix had many BOGO items. Now their specials are almost always "Buy TWO get ONE free," with their regular price so high that even 3 for the price of 2 is more than you'd pay at Walmart.

Publix still has a fair amount of BOGOs, but yes, I'm seeing a lot more BTGOFs. At least with the BOGOs if you buy one you get it at half price. I'm rarely home enough to justify doubling up on things.

That's hit and miss. Last time I tried to buy one BOGO at half price they wouldn't let me, and it has happened more than once. Their registers don't acknowledge the special until the second (or third) item is scanned.

Was always standard practice at other grocery stores simply to make each item half price.

The bedrock of my monthly budget is singling up on Publix BOGOs. If they ever mess with that here, I’m going to ugly cry in front of the manager. And then I’m probably going to starve, because I just can’t with Walmart Neighborhood Market.

I'm in the land of Food Lion ... and across the drainage ditch from my backyard is a Harris Teeter. Can be grossly overpriced, but good subs – still some Friday specials – and the right things on sale make it a worthwhile short walk from the house (not across the ditch, though, particularly during the summer).
