I wonder how Oregonians feel about having to follow the lead of a state in far worse shape health wise.

Better than they'd feel about following the lead of any Trumpist state.

We feel just fine, thanks. California's response to COVID 19 has been exceptional. Approximately 1,200 deaths for a population of 40 million. Projecting only 14 deaths on May 1. Nine times the population of Louisiana, but only twice the deaths.

Trump lost the West Coast by more than five million votes in 2016. This time the margin will be seven or eight million, easy. You have no idea how much he is absolutely despised out here.

California has a large Asian population, many traveling to/from Asia. It has large ports dealing with container ships from China. Chinese crews landing there. Lots of air travel. It's the most populous state, so add that to the rest and it was totally expected for them to get hit hard. Instead, their coronavirus response has been among the best in the nation.

If Biden isn't elected president in 2020, Newsom will be in 2024.

Are pro sports coming back any time soon? Put it this way: Testing has stagnated nationwide. This is one of the precursors for a return to normalcy according to those damned libruhl experts. Roughly 40% of teams in the four major leagues play in a state hit hard by the Trumpandemic. If Texas and Florida and Georgia and other denialist states want to play ball, they'll have to do it among themselves.

In a state of nearly 40 million that had some of the earliest cases and accepted repatriation flights and stricken cruise ships to have 62 cases per capita, I'd say we're doing damn good.. There are 29 states worse off per capita than California.
