Thanks. It's one of those things. It felt sort of inevitable, but we hoped it wouldn't happen. We're trying to retain hope but we both understand the reality of the situation. She has not been able to visit her sister for a couple of months, and likely won't get to say goodbye either.

    Sucks, but there it is.

I wish the best. But don't lose hope. I've seen stories of octogenarians who were in other risk pools surviving the illness.

Fucking Florida....So a quick 3-4 month summary of this state.

Less than a week before St. Patrick's Day (I'll say March 12 since it was my last day on the road), many of the state's counties tried to get a jump on this. Safer-at-home announcements. Restaurants were being forced to go 50 percent and in many places they were eventually closed before March 17. Meanwhile DeSantis, with Trump's hand firmly up his ass, is fartknocking and waiting around to declare a stay-at-home for the state. He finally does the end of March or first week of April...I forget exactly...and from the minute it's declared he's just counting the seconds until he can re-open.

Re-opening phases come around and, despite the numbers being clearly fudged (with an abnormally high death rate with the cause of "pneumonia"), DeSantis has to take a victory lap and pat himself on back because Florida came under all projections despite how lax the rules were. Needless to say once things re-opened people around here thought it was a big ass block party. I remember going into downtown to grab some food for take out and driving by an establishment on the first night it was opened (May 29) and you would've thought it was New Year's Eve. A line around the corner, people all on top of each other and I'm like "fuck that...not me...never."

Well now here we are, about a month after Phase 1 and a few weeks after Phase 2. Numbers are skyrocketing. The larger city mayors are deciding to take matters into their own hands and forcing mandatory face coverings while outside. If the numbers climb through the weekend shutting things down again would make the most sense but DeSantis won't do that without the go ahead from the White House.

Meanwhile I think is the tip of the iceberg. The numbers post July 4 are going to be brutal. So bad to the point of where I think schools will be shut down for the fall. If that happens this state is going to absolutely implode. I might move somewhere else.
