Dementia sucks. I have seen it. The inability to say goodbye is one of the awful elements of COVID. Another is that intubation leads to further mental decline.
Best wishes to you and your family.

Man, you even found an excuse to take a swipe at Chris Cuomo. For a guy who claims he isn't a Republican, you rarely fail to share their talking points.

It's going to take a truly horrific level of awful for Florida to close schools in the fall. They've already made their pitch that schools must open for the good of the kids, especially ones in low-income families, and the good of the economy. Hell, most of their announced plan for the fall re-opening was one long justification of the decision with very little guidance for how schools would open safely. They just dumped that off on the local districts.

I'm just catching. Keeping a good thought for her, for you and for your family.

I live on the other side of South Carolina. I'm concerned. And the thing is, people AREN'T being terribly stupid, at least not in my neck of the woods. In my experience, people around here seem to be about 60-40 in favor of masks -- not bad for the South -- and traffic in my neighborhood has certainly not returned to pre-pandemic levels. (My daily walk takes me by a busy intersection, and it's probably returned to about 70 percent of its previous busy-ness.) I think what we're seeing is what would have happened if there had been no shutdown. And the death counts are low right now, but those always have been a trailing indicator. I think we're headed for another shutdown here, no matter what Gov. Foghorn Leghorn says.
