And I'm not against more. But when a social work professor I once had told the class "You really have to be cautious about the idea of helping all people reach their maximum self actualization (the core principal of that graduate school) because of the difficulty in doing so and that you eventually realize you can't, so you adjust your goals to help them maintain. And if you ever happened to save the world so to speak, you'd get rid of your own job." Yeah, well, there's no need for blacksmiths either, and as long as we minimize our objectives on such a delicate matter, we'll never get well.

Facebook, Twitter and this site are filled with sentiments about "today is not the day" to discuss gun control.

The truth: Unless it occurs in your backyard, these mass murders are forgotten a week after they happen.

If we don't talk about gun control today, I just don't know when any meaningful discussion will be had on it.

No -- everything has been based on sources. Only thing confirmed is there are 28 dead -- 20 of them children.

Exactly right. Primacy trumps accuracy these days.

Very weird happenings on a Google search of Adam Lanza. Looks like initial reports said that he was either A) dead at the parents' house; or B) being questioned. But clicking on those reports, that info is gone.

I remember all those quotes last time too. What I don't remember is the conversation about gun control that we couldn't have that day. Or this day. Or, apparently, ever.

There's another report that the Hoboken cops are questioning the shooter's roommate. I guess that could be his brother too.

I didn't have a problem with him showing emotion. I would have appreciated it even more if he'd gone off on evil.
