I have no problem with him wanting to protect his family. He is obviously not a criminal and has every right to own these firearms. And as for him getting photographed with this kind of weapon...who cares? Not everyone lives and dies according to what kind of image they are putting out there. The man's wife was shot in the head...I would be surprised if he DIDN'T want some kind of protection.

I have never been the victim of a violent crime, but I know quite a few people who have. I don't think anyone has the right to look at their reaction and make any kind of judgment. If someone you love was shot in the head would you give a shit if someone was offended you bought something to protect yourself?

  2. You don't know much about PR, do you?

And didn't read the link, for that matter.

"It was only when the media started asking questions that Kelly posted an entry about the purchase on his Facebook page:

I just had a background check a few days ago when I went to my local gun store to buy a .45. As I was leaving, I noticed a used AR-15. Bought that too. Even to buy an assault weapon, the background check only takes a matter of minutes. I don’t have possession of it yet but I’ll be turning it over to the Tucson PD when I do."

  4. Was he planning on turning over the gun before the news got out?

    No idea.

I await a real news story on the matter.

Sweet, a big attention-grabbing "PR" stunt. Just what we need. He showed us.

Dick, you let me down. I was expecting a big, splashy Rand Paul picture. You are slipping.

Just saw this clip from the Daily Show on FOXNews:

    Very funny. (Responsible gun owner.)

I appreciate his efforts to stimulate Tucson's economy, but what exactly is the point of that? To feel better about himself? To arm the Tucson PD? To "get another gun off the streets!"?
An AR-15 costs around $1,000. That's an expensive way to make an empty, symbolic gesture.
