What amount would you be willing to devote to symbolism after your wife was shot in the head?

If you're for gun control, there's probably a better way to use that money than by supporting the industry you're protesting.

How the Left blew it on gun control.

Michael Moore says release the photos:

    Is he right?

After 9/11, a lot of folks felt the same way about the photos of people dangling in the windows of the Towers, or jumping from the building, so I see his point.

    I think so.

But the North American news market has been pulling its punches on photos like these for decades. Same applies to combat deaths.

It's the perfect liberal ploy. All emotion, so that the government can act first, think later.

Yes. God forbid anyone ever be made to confront the consequences of their ideology.

My ideology on mentally ill people would have prevented Sandy Hook, not caused it.

The idea of anybody's mind being changed because we get to see gruesome pictures of bullet-riddled kids is preposterous. That's the same mindset as protesters who carry enormous placards of aborted fetuses, figuring that will change people's minds about abortion. Won't happen.

    So?

Better mental health care and tighter gun controls aren't mutually exclusive.

Although it's pretty funny seeing the GOP cry out for better public mental health care - having completely defunded that very system.

Mentally ill people started being much, much more of a crime problem -- and often heinous crimes -- when judges ruled in favor of the ACLU and declared institutionalizing them to be not allowable.

EDIT: I tried to un-politicize this post a bit ... and, also, thank you, Moddy, for the re-open.
