Multiple deaths, including children, at Connecticut school shooting

    Some of y'all here are/were night editors who had decision-making power on what photos to run.

    I pushed the envelope in Trenton several times but because this is the world we live in and the AP photos were just too damn dramatic not to use.

    One day AP ran photos of 11 (I think) headless bodies on a roadside in Mexico during the deadliest part of the war against the drug cartels. I ran one of the shots in black and white on a back news page. Publisher asked me the next day why I ran it. I said it's big news. He didn't tell me not to run those kinds of photos but didn't encourage it either.

    A few months later there was the story of the Afghan woman (I think Afghan) who was stoned to death. AP ran some unbelievable photos that moved me. I ran a few of them big in black and white. Didn't hear anything from the publisher.

    Few other examples of that. I just think you push the boundaries till someone above you tells you not to.

    But what would they have thought about the pictures?

    I guess what is acceptable and not acceptable falls into the hands to a good editor.

    The "truthers" are out there saying it never happened. It's all government hoax to get your guns.
