    Granted that discussion doesn't belong on this thread. However, I don't post on that thread, and I don't particularly appreciate my post being copied in there. (I nearly responded before I realized what had happened.)

    I'd prefer if it were removed.

    I have no problem telling that to such an individual. I would be surprised if the scenario you present is anywhere near the norm, though.

    It took me a month to renew my driver's license because I had to send off to another state for the new Homeland Security-certified birth certificate. Money grab aside, I understand the thinking behind the new version, but I found it hilarious that A) my original birth certificate, issued and stamped and footprinted at the hospital on the very day of my birth, no longer is recognized or accepted as official proof of identification, and B) my replacement birth certificate says "Certified Original" at the top.

  9. It took me a few weeks to get one back in 2002. Moved to a different state and never had a "real" birth certificate. Only had a hospital certificate.
