Pretty sure he used some kind of rapid-fire or at least higher-capacity device on the handguns -- I think Inky mentioned a few pages back about the modified clips.

    Those aren't assault rifles though.

Gangs. The drug trade. Nearly all the shootings in Chicago are related to these two factors, and it's not very different around the country.

Do these other countries have these problems?

Someone just shot themselves on the Excalibur Casino floor.

Rapid-fire, then. Or high-capacity. Pick a different word.

You're quibbling over semantics to avoid the point that dozens of people dead at a time are a new phenomenon, despite what I'm sure we agree is a mostly unchanged percentage of mentally ill people over the previous couple of hundred years.

    And a couple other people.

Why would I agree with something there's no evidence of?

My point is that people spent all day screaming that banning assault rifles would have prevented this and it turns out an assault rifle wasn't even used.

Though I guess that CNN reporter probably thinks he put the assault rifle back in the car after he shot himself.

If you want action on mental health, going at it through gun restrictions isn't going to work. How are you going to prove someone who applies for a gun permit is mentally unstable?

    Yeah, the kids...

Really, what "debate" is there to have about gun control?

  12. Good for you. How about you go back and re-read my reply to Tony's about focusing on the shooter.
